Ingredients
2 lbs sirloin steak (ribeye, T-bone, filet or NY strip)
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
4 Tbs vegetable oil, divided
1 orange, juice and zest
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup sweet chile sauce
1/4 cup hoisin sauce
1 Tbs rice wine vinegar
1 Tbs honey
2 tsp cornstarch
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 green onions, sliced
2 mandarin oranges, segmented
Directions
- Season the steak with salt and pepper. Heat a skillet over high. When hot, add 2 tablespoons of oil. Sear the steak on all sides until charred. Remove steak, and let cool.
- In a small bowl, combine the orange juice and zest, soy sauce, sweet chile sauce, hoisin sauce, rice wine vinegar, honey, and cornstarch. Whisk to combine until cornstarch is dissolved.
- Slice the steak into 1/2-inch thick pieces. Over high heat, add remaining oil to skillet. Add beef. Stir-fry until crispy and cooked to medium doneness for about 2 minutes. Add garlic, and cook for a minute. Add the sauce, and bring to a simmer. While stirring, let the sauce reduce and thicken slightly for about a minute. Add the green onions and mandarin segments. Stir to combine. Serve with rice if desired.
