During an era of gangsters and speakeasies, Americans would not be denied their favorite beverages. Daring drinkers sipped wine on the sly and found a loophole allowing doctors to prescribe Bourbon. In honor of that bold time, two once-forbidden favorites come together to inspire our 1924 Bourbon Barrel-Aged Cabernet Sauvignon. Crafted with full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon aged in Bourbon barrels, this liberal wine is layered with suggestions of blackberry, fig and warm spice with notes reminiscent of Bourbon: caramel, brown sugar and toasted oak.

With a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon blended in, this 2009 Merlot displays the qualities that make it a mainstay in our red wine program. The Russian River bordering our family's estate vineyards is responsible for the cooling fog that develops the acidity in our Chardonnay grapes. To retain those bright citrus and green apple flavors we cold ferment and age 70% in stainless steel. The balance is fermented in French oak barrels, undergoes malolactic fermentation and ages on the lees for 6-8 months adding body and a hint of creaminess to the wine.
